Michael Prendergast was crowned the latest KKPT champion after a 3-day battle in Limerick, Ireland.
123 entries over 4 hard-fought Day 1 flights created a €15,375 prize pool.
KKPT Limerick was the final €150 buy-in event before the €100,000 GTD Season 1 Finale in Dublin during 26-30 March.

Michael Prendergast came through a heads-up battle against David ‘Panda’ Fitzpatrick to win the €4,400 top prize, plus a €300 ticket to the KKPT Finale Dublin.
In the final hand, with the flop showing 6h 3h 4c, Fitzpatrick was all in, and Prendergast made the call after some thought.
Fitzpatrick showed 7s 6s for top pair and a gutshot straight draw. Prendergast needed help and he showed Ac 5s.
The 8sturn was safe for Fitzpatrick, and he had a 77% chance of a double-up. But the 2s on the river turned the scenario in Prendergast’s favor for a wheel straight and the winner’s trophy.
When asked how he felt winning KKPT Limerick, Michael said: “Very good! Tired, it’s been a long few days, but feel good. I ran well, think I played pretty well.
“I came into the final table as chipleader, and I had a few clashes with the next biggest stack, and lost the lead once. So that was quite a big challenge and he was really aggressive, but once I got the chiplead back and knocked him out, it was pretty good and clear sailing.“
And will we get to see Michael battle for another trophy in the KKPT Dublin Finale?
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I can go to Dublin for the KKPT Finale. It sounds like a great event. I will prepare the usual ways I prefer for any event but I’m really looking forward to it.”
FINAL TABLE ACTION
On the final table of 9, well-known Irish player Rory Liffey (pictured below) was the first to depart. Liffey, who has over $560,000 in recorded live tournament earnings, collected €450, before Keith Duffy banked €500 for his 8th place finish.
Prendergast then raised from Middle Position and Mizan Rahman (pictured below)moved all in from the Cutoff. Action folded back to Prendergast, who needed a minute to think before he called with Ad Jh. Rahman held 7d 7h and was in a race for his tournament life.
The board ran out Th Jc 5d 3h Qh and Rahman was eliminated in 7th place.
Tommy O’Rourke (pictured below) saw his Ks 10c run into AA to depart in 6th place, before Ian Collins exited in 5th place after his all in from the Button with Qs 10c ran into Prendergast’s Ac Kc from the Big Blind. The flop fell Qd 5c 6c, making for an interesting situation, but the Ace on the turn and 2c on the river meant no miracle escape for Collins.
Eugeniu Barbaros was eliminated in 4th place with Ah Ts after losing a race against Prendergast’s 44.
Dermot Walsh (pictured above) took 3rd place for €1,800 after his KQ suited couldn’t get the better of AJ.
