At KKPoker, we pride ourselves on helping our community grow through regular online poker promotions to live event opportunities, and in February 2026, we saw one of our biggest winners!
How ‘MANSEDOG’ Turned a KKPoker Ticket Into €149,775! Introducing the new Kings of Tallinn Main Event winner, Veli-Pekka Penttinen.
A Decision That Changed Everything
For most players, winning an online satellite tournament is simply the beginning of a fun poker trip with the opportunity to experience a new location or an event and aim for a place in the money. For Finland’s Veli, it became the start of a career-defining victory and a new highest live poker result!
Playing online as ‘MANSEDOG’ on KKPoker, the 40-year-old qualified for the 2026 Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event through our online satellites — before going on to outlast a field of more than 1,100 entries at Olympic Park Casino Tallinn and capture the title along with a massive €149,775 first-place prize!
It’s exactly the kind of poker story satellites are designed to create: turning a low online investment into a seat on one of Europe’s biggest live stages — and ultimately, into a championship moment.
‘MANSEDOG’ is a self-confessed recreational poker player, but has aspirations for more.
“I play a lot poker but not professionally at this moment. Hopefully, in the near future professionally.” He said.
“I was recommended to join KKPoker by a friend. And decided to play the Kings of Tallinn online satellites for a chance to play for cheaper.
“Tallinn was already my plan because of the Team Competition there, but I had to try my luck in the satellites too.”
Rather than committing directly to the €1,100 buy-in, the decision was straightforward to qualify smarter. For Veli, that accessibility is exactly what makes online qualification so powerful.
“It’s quite an easy path to get to the bigger live events and KKPoker satellites includes a lot of value for every player.”
Trusting Experience Over Reinvention
With over 15 years of live poker experience across multiple continents, Veli’s preparation didn’t involve radical strategy changes or added pressure. Instead, he relied on familiarity and discipline.
Having played the festival multiple times before, his approach remained intentionally simple: play good poker and let results follow.
“I just tried to play my best poker in every hand. Be ready to play and not change anything about my normal play.”
Even his expectations entering the tournament were grounded, with much of his focus initially on contributing points toward his team rather than chasing headlines.
“My overall aim was to play my best poker as much as possible and get some good results to gain points for our team in the Team Competition.”
Momentum Builds in Tallinn
Kings of Tallinn has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most enjoyable live poker stops, something Veli clearly appreciates after returning year after year.
“The venue, staff, and atmosphere overall are the best I’ve ever been to, and it’s always nice to come back to play.”
Starting the final day fifth in chips among the remaining 16 players, momentum gradually shifted in his favor. Confidence truly arrived once the final table was reached, with both chips and position working in harmony.
“When I got to the final table as a chip leader and got a good position at the table, I had a good feeling overall to play my best.”
Unlike many major tournament victories filled with dramatic swings, Veli describes his run as unexpectedly controlled.
“There weren’t any big pots. Everything went like I had planned and it was a surprisingly smooth ride overall.”
Sometimes, championship poker looks less like chaos — and more like consistency.
Playing for the Trophy
A three-way deal guaranteed Veli the biggest payday of his career, but with the title still undecided, focus never shifted away from the ultimate goal.
“There was still a lot of money on the table and winning the Kings of Tallinn Main Event means a lot to me, so there was no doubt about focusing on playing my best.”
When the final hand ended and reality finally caught up, the achievement took time to sink in fully.
“It still feels unbelievable, and I’m so glad that I was able to win this exact event.”
From satellite qualifier to Kings of Tallinn champion — all within a single tournament run.
Staying Grounded After a Six-Figure Win
Despite the life-changing score, Veli’s mindset remains firmly rooted in improvement rather than celebration.
“I think it won’t change much. I still need to grind a lot and study to improve at poker. I need to be humble because other players are getting better every day, and so do I.”
That humility reflects a broader truth shared by many successful players: poker rewards long-term dedication far more than single victories.
Asked what advice he would give players considering KKPoker satellites themselves, his answer was refreshingly simple.
“Just try to play. It’s an easy path to get to the bigger tournaments, and as seen, everything is possible.”
The Poker Road Ahead
The win has already delivered renewed confidence — and possibly the beginning of an even bigger chapter.
“It’s a big confidence boost for me, and maybe more good results are following this? 😊”
Live poker clearly remains a major priority moving forward for Veli, particularly when qualification routes via KKPoker online satellites make participation more accessible.
“I like playing live, and winning a satellite ticket is a good reason to go play and not pay big buy-in amounts. And if there are good satellites in KKPoker, for sure, I will play those.”
For players dreaming of replicating his journey, Veli keeps the message direct.
“You won’t win if you don’t try. Believe in yourself!”
And every champion needs support — even if it comes in an unconventional form.
“My KKPoker nickname is ‘MANSEDOG’ because simply ‘Manse’ is my rail dog and my spirit animal!”
One Satellite. One Run. One Champion.
Veli-Pekka Penttinen’s victory is another reminder of what makes poker unique. A single online satellite on KKPoker can lead not just to participation in a major live event, but to standing alone as the champion.
Some players buy in. Others qualify. And occasionally, someone turns that opportunity into a €149,775 dream run!
